Christine Parent, painter

Christine Parent
For several years now, I have been
trying to transcribe onto canvases
the precarious and random
balance of various elements
in motion, which thanks to and
because of their differences,
function, organize,
create and destroy themselves,
at the same time.

Paint, pastel, fabrics, paper,
sand and other materials
can be found in
my canvases to express the
various layers of my memory.
Themes
Nature, movement and the human transition are present in my work. Three essential sources to build my imaginary and to take you into yours.
Desert
Since 2003 , after several
stays in the desert of Lybia,
the latter is reflected in my
canvases by its colors and
shapes .

Storm
On December 26 th 1999 in Lorraine,
I witnessed the destruction of giant trees
helpless against the evil
force of the storm.
These uprooted, fallen,
broken trees arise from my paintings
on a background of bright colors
as the hope for rebirth
of this mortified nature
is real.
Escapes
Darkness, light.
Reflection of sensations
comes through with full
strength by the burst
of shapes and colors.

Movement
How to express
this world in motion.
That’s the challenge.
From canvas to canvas
like a perpetual movement.
Logic will get you from point A to point B. Imagination will take you everywhere
